did i catch a niner in there? (day 9)

what happens when i go to HomePlus alone:
-pringles
-panko bread crumbs
-asian puffy stickers
-funny "english" cards
-dried fruit
-canned vegetables (i have no can opener, nor do i have anything sharp or heavy to use instead)
-mmmm crunchy peanut butter
^ none of these things were on my list, obviously.

short stories:

yesterday, i had a class write a paragraph for an assignment. one of the papers i received was "I like apples by Peter Pan". Turns out a boy in my class (american name: peter) must be very imaginative. I thought it was adorable.

when the students don't know a word in my class, i have no choice but to draw on the board or act out what it is. to explain baseball, i had to draw a stick figure holding a bat. one of my students gasped, and said, "brenna teacher, you draw so GOOD". to which i of course replied, "call me picasso, kid". (not really)

the same kid called me beautiful. i think i feel a crush developing. his parents are going to be so mad if he starts to like americans.

one of my classes had to do an exercise about their parents' jobs. they are 6 so some of them don't know what their parents do. heck, i was 20something before i really found out what my dad does. here are some excerpts from their projects:
- My dad is doctor. He is old man injections.
- He is my dad. He is business man. She is my mom. She is teacher. She is nice. But she has baby so she is wife.
- My dad is doctor. He is scared.
- My mom is business woman. My dad is little old business man.
- My dad is old business woman. Mom. She is nice.

There's a Baskin Robbins and a Dunkin Donuts on my street. I think there's a Mcdonald's but it's in Korean so it looks different.

While the kids were at a musical at Expo Park today, I went to the hospital for my checkup. Everything was fine, eyesight good, hearing good, x-ray good, but my blood pressure was really really low. but i was reassured that it was no big deal, because all korean women have low blood pressure. apparently i am turning into a korean woman.

The director of my school was talking to me about phones. Apparently she payed around $900.00 for her phone 4 years ago. Crazy. And, of course, the kids always want a new phone every couple years. That makes an iPhone cheap. But there is a cell phone store (one of the many) that i pass walking to work, and it says iPhone, coming soon. I bet you'll have to take out a loan just to get one!

Pictures soon.
